DESCRIPTION

In 1820, 4000 British settlers arrived by sea to become the first permanent British residents of the area. The first of three commercial ships to enter Algoa Bay on the 10th April 1820 was the Chapman. The Chapman Hotel & Conference Centre is named after this famous British Settler Ship.

Established in 1998, The Chapman Hotel & Conference Centre is a family business, which is owned and managed by the Franklin family. The Chapman Hotel includes the internationally famous restaurant, Blackbeards® Tavern, which, besides being known as Port Elizabeth's Seafood Landmark, has been a wine and dine destination for the tourism industry since 1975.

Situated on Brookes Hill between King's Beach, the Blue Flag Humewood Beach and the world-renowned water sports mecca of Hobie Beach, The Chapman offers the traveller a blend of well-appointed accommodation and world-class cuisine in a setting reminiscent of lazy summer days of leisure.

Panoramic sea views may be enjoyed from all of The Chapman's en-suite hotel rooms.

The Chapman has its own Conference Centre and private parking for both private guests and Tour buses.
