    DESCRIPTION

    St Fort has been in the Goldblatt family since 1964. We are country folk at heart. Time is measured by the sun and the changing seasons, and things happen as they should, slow and steady. Not surprisingly, St Fort has always been characterized as an open home with warm hospitality and a big heart. Stepping onto St Fort takes one back to a bygone era when life was simpler. Through the years friends and family would come to St Fort for a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. They would find rest for the body and restoration for the soul by taking in the beauty of the place, walking and breathing in fresh mountain air, and of course being well fed with home baked fair. Not much has changed as the family continue to share the magnificence of St Fort with the weary and adventurous alike.

    In the latter part of the nineties the sandstone farm house was converted into a comfortable and homely guest house, aptly named St Fort Country House. This home-stead is perfect for hosting families needing time away, couples escaping their hum-drum lives or friends catching up in the hearty home where the sense of space and freedom is inescapable.

    Over the years the hiking trails were laid out for visitors to enjoy and most recently a mountain bike trail has been added for the adventurous in spirit.

    St Fort is truly a gem nestled in the Eastern Free State Highlands and it is our joy to share with you the beauty of this place.

    ST FORT COUNTRY HOUSE

    St Fort Country House is a sandstone homestead which offers the finest in quality farm accommodation. Our sandstone homestead was built in 1913 and has been lovingly restored into a luxurious and comfortable guesthouse with 5 en-suite bedrooms. St Fort is the ideal spot for family gatherings and is truly a unique holiday destination in this area.

    The guesthouse is divided into 2 units, the main house is on east side of the house and the annex on the west side of the house. An inter-leading dining room joins the two units.

    The main house has 3 en-suite bedrooms (rooms 1, 2 and 3). Room 1 has a log fireplace and is big enough to fit two extra beds. It has a bath and shower. Rooms 2 and 3 have showers.

    The main house has a spacious kitchen with underfloor heating, an ideal gathering spot in the cold winter months, a big lounge with a log fireplace and DSTV as well as a sunny patio that overlooks a large garden with beautiful mountains as backdrop.

    The annex has two en-suite bedrooms (rooms 4 & 5) with showers. This cosy unit has a fully equipped kitchenette, a lounge with a log fireplace and DSTV. It also has a patio with a lovely view, the best spot to watch the sun go down.

    THE COTTAGE

    Our quaint garden cottage lies on the west side of the guesthouse. It has an en-suite bedroom with DSTV, fully equipped kitchenette, ideal for the self-caterer.

    All the rooms have the comforts of electric blankets, tea trays, heaters for winter and fans for summer. There are 2 extra length beds in every room, which can either be made into king size beds or kept single.
